Admissions Process

As a parent, choosing the right school for your child is one of the most significant decisions you will make, and we understand the concerns, worries, and hopes that come with it. Our international community in Bangkok is large and dynamic, and we are honored that you are considering KIS for your child's education. We extend a warm welcome to new students and provide support for their smooth transition to KIS, with admissions accepted throughout the year.

KIS uses OpenApply, an online application portal, which allows us to streamline all inquiries, visits, assessments and applications. You will be asked to create an account with your email address and a password. Please use the same details to log in each time.

Please use Grade Listing & Comparison to see when your child can start at KIS International School or which grade they would be eligible for on the button below. Additionally, we have an alternate admissions procedure specifically for Early Years applications. Please click the button below if you are interested in Early Years.

Step 3 : Assessment

The assessments serves to determine how a child will cope with the transition into the new classroom environment and whether or not we expect the child to be able to access the programme at that particular grade level.

The assessment consists of the following elements:

Early Years Prep - Early Years 3
  • Classroom Observation
  • Parent Interview
Grade 1 - Grade 5
  • Math and English written test (G1-G2)
  • Math and English computer-based and written test (G3-G5)
  • Classroom observation
  • Parent interview
Grade 6 - Grade 11
  • Math and English computer-based and written test
  • Family interview
  • Thai assessment for Thai students

Families will be notified about the admissions outcome within 1-2 weeks after review of the assessment test results, the interview, and the consideration of the admissions criteria. Once a place has been offered, the family will be given a specific time to confirm the acceptance in writing to ensure a seat for the prospective student.

Step 4 : Registration

Once the family confirms the placement and settles all payments, the student will be enrolled and provided with an ID number. KIS will then request the necessary items to complete the registration process.

  • All fees paid by the given deadline
  • Complete online forms: Student Background, Services Form, and Health Forms
  • Grade 6-12 students may bring their PC/MAC laptops for registration
  • Purchase uniforms, obtain student ID Cards, and return digital permission slips to the School Services Department
  • Attend New Parent/Student Orientation

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any assistance we can give you, including a pick-up service from the airport or your hotel to our school.

For families who are moving from overseas but are unable to schedule a preview visit, an overseas assessment and interview can be conducted at a mutually convenient time.

Making the Most of Your Application

  • As an international school, we accept applications on a year-round and rolling basis.

  • We welcome applications at any time of the year, but recommend applying early as some classes may be full.

  • Please have all family members who are interested in seeing the school join the appointment for your visit.

  • Early Years families located in Bangkok should apply during the set application periods.

  • Late application into Grade 11 and applications into Grade 12 are discouraged due to the nature of the IB curriculum.

  • Please complete the inquiry form before booking a tour.

  • We may not be able to accommodate you without an appointment.
