KIS Welcomes New Head of School, Dr. Carolyn Mason Parker
Dear KIS Community,
As I prepare for my new role as Head of School at KIS International School Bangkok, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the opportunities that lie ahead. I am grateful for the chance to apply my skills, knowledge, and experiences to make a positive impact in a new environment.
As an experienced educator, I began my career in the classroom in the UK as a Primary and Middle School Generalist with a specialism in History. Having always had an interest in language learning, I later added English Language to my specialisms. My Master’s degree was focused on both education and linguistics, leading to an additional qualification in special education with a focus on language development and dyslexia. After teaching in the UK for four years, I moved overseas and into IB schools, this is when I undertook a TEFL qualification.
Having moved into leadership roles, my doctoral study was an opportunity to research how to support teachers with curriculum development to better support student learning. I have also supported the University of Western Ontario in developing and establishing a teacher development program aligned with and accredited by the IBO.
It is my mission as an educational leader to build, maintain and develop the systems and curriculum that facilitate, enable, and inspire students and teachers to achieve their academic and personal potential. In my new role as Head of School at KIS International School Bangkok, I am eager to collaborate with a diverse and talented team of educators to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Together, we will foster a culture of excellence and empower students to become lifelong learners and global citizens. With a passion for educational innovation and a commitment to fostering inclusive practices, I am dedicated to ensuring every student's success and well-being.
As I embark on this exciting journey, I look forward to forging strong partnerships with parents, the wider community, and educational organizations to enrich the educational experience and broaden students' horizons. Together, we will cultivate a school environment that celebrates diversity, embraces creativity, and instills a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.
Change can be both challenging and invigorating, but it is through embracing new opportunities that we grow personally and professionally. I am looking forward to working with the KIS community so we can grow together.
I look forward to welcoming new families on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 8:30 AM and welcoming back all students on Wednesday, August 9th.
Best regards,
Dr. Carolyn Mason Parker
