G9 Drama Mask Performance

G9 Drama Mask Performance

After creating their own Commedia dell'Arte masks, Grade 9 students put their physical expression to the test through self-directed performances, which were evaluated as a final performance. Commedia dell'Art is an Italian style of physical comedy that was popular in the 16th century. We still see its influence today in slapstick comedy and stereotypical characters.

Drama is considered an important part of the arts curriculum, allowing students to explore their creativity and develop a range of skills. Through drama, students learn how to express themselves effectively, both verbally and non-verbally, and develop an understanding of different cultures and perspectives. They also develop critical thinking skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

By using drama as a means of learning, students are able to develop a range of skills that will be valuable both inside and outside of the classroom.
