The faculty at our school is made up of an international and diverse body consisting of native English teachers and native English and bilingual teaching assistants. They are appointed based on their educational qualifications and related professional experience and are hired from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa plus other countries, on a standard 2 year contract. All teachers are qualified with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Most have obtained higher qualifications (MA/ MEd/ Ed.D).
All teaching teams include staff specifically qualified for their student age group. We provide opportunities for professional development through IB training and other opportunities to ensure continued facilitation of up-to-date academic research and to support best practices. The faculty works closely and collaborates with colleagues in all areas, including planning, assessing and delivering the curriculum. This team teaching approach provides teachers with peer support and allows them to model team work, cooperation and collegiality to students.
KIS is also pleased to have the distinction of having many staff holding positions in the IB Organisation. This allows the school to be closely involved with the developments and the direction of the IB education at a global level. The positions our staff hold include: governor on the IB board, IB Certified PYP teacher trainers, workshop evaluators, workshop leaders, examiners, IB authorisation visitors, PYP team leader, and more.
