KIS Graduates Update

We recently made contact with some of our graduates in the United Kingdom to see how they are doing in the lives after leaving KIS. We received this photo from Same Holloway who met up with Nut, Liew and Ung in Bristol and attended a Thai Festival together. Sam is doing a Sports Coaching course at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. Liew is reading law at the University of East Anglia, Ung is doing an Visual Communication course at the University of Derby and Nut is doing a course at the University of Bristol.
World Maths and Spelling Days

On the 1st of March KIS students participated in the World Maths Day online competition. Like last year, the student body organised an evening event which invited dedicated students to spend an evening at school answering maths questions (and enjoying some Student Council sponsored pizza!) To keep things fair, the event limited students to 100 games only. The idea was now about being as accurate as possible in the limited number of games instead of encouraging a sleepless 48hours of constant keyboard tapping. Our students were not afraid of the new challenge and demonstrated that their accuracy was not to be dissmissed.
Peemai G11, competed in the iPhone/iPad category. He found himself in the top ten quite early in the competition and fought fiercely to stay there. After his 100 games he had correctly answered 3474 questions which left him just outside the top ten at a very admirable 12th place – in the world! Congratulations Peemai!
As soon as the World Maths Day event wrapped up, the World Spelling Day event began. Again, students had a limit of 100 games to prove their spelling prowess. Without an evening to encourage participation, it was left to students to find their own time to practice and then participate. Nod G8, did himself and KIS proud when he sat down at his computer to join in the fun. Nod very quickly found himself on the leader board for his age range. At the end of the competition Nod had answered 2980 questions correctly, placing him equal 4th in the world! Nod will earn a gold medal for his efforts!
Congratulations to all students that participated. The top 100 results can all be viewed at www.worldmathsday.com and www.worldspellingday.com
