![]() ParentsKIS cannot do all that it is doing for its students without the help of parents.
KIS firmly believes that parents play a vital role in the education of their children and encourage a healthy cooperative parent-school relationship. We are supported by a parent community that is extremely active in school life including extra curricular activities, classroom support, field trips, community service and community building. At KIS we are a community with families at the core. The KIS Parents Association (KISPA), is a non-profit voluntary organization which provides support for students, the school and parents. It serves to support the school programmes through organizing additional resources and groups of parent volunteers. The Activities Committee, Curriculum Committee, and Sports Committee are steered by parents, who although busy in their own professional lives, find time to contribute to the school thus instilling and engaging in the 'take action' ethos that makes KIS so unique. KIS parents are renowned for their participation in school events and organizations. In recent years parents have coordinated fund raising events such as KIS FEST Concert in the Park in support of Tsunami projects. They also have a hand in Book Week promoting literacy through puppet shows, plays, and story telling and perform the grande finale during KIS's annual Artigras week. Parents are as much a part of the learning experience at KIS as are the students, teachers and staff. It takes a village to raise a child - it takes an enthusiastic engaged parent to help students reach their full potential.
