![]() LeadershipThe Head of School, the Primary School Principal and the Secondary School Principal lead the academic organization at KIS, with the Principals reporting directly to the Head of School.
The Principals are supported by a team of Coordinators who in turn provide support for Primary and Secondary School teachers. The Coordinators, along with the Principals, form academic management teams that continually assesses the programme and work towards the fulfillment of the school mission of academic excellence. A five-year strategic plan ensures consistency and provides direction and focus for future plans and developments. Head of School, Ms. Sally Holloway B.Ed (Hons) Christ Church College, UK MA in International Eduction, Oxford Brookes University, UK Ms. Holloway is from the U.K. and has been at the helm since the school opened in 1998. Ms. Holloway brings with her 8 years of teaching and administrative experience at KIS affiliate school, Washington International School. Ms. Holloway is on the Heads of School Council of the International Baccalaureate and is a member of the IB Asia Pacific Regional Heads Representative Council. Secondary School Principal, Mr. Michael Hirsch BA History & Secondary Education, University of Iowa MA Education, Framingham State College, United States Masters in Secondary School Administration, Michigan State University Mr Hirsch is from the United States and has been with the school since 2005. He brings 7 years of international teaching experience and previously held the MYP Coordinator position at KIS. Mr.Hirsch has been very involved in the authorization of the Middle Years and IB Diploma Programmes.
Ms. Kyle is from the United States and joined KIS in 2009. She came from Washington International School, where she headed the library (including designing and building a new media center) and taught several classes.
Middle Years Programme Coordinator, Mr. Dan Magie Bachelors of Science in Education, Emporia State University, Kansas, USA Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction: Curriculum Leadership, Emporia State University, Kansas, USA Mr. Magie is originally from the United States and has been with KIS for five years. During the last 10 years he has been teaching Secondary School language arts, social studies, maths and science and has completed Middle Years Programmes training courses through the International Baccalaureate. Ms. Johnson-Schynder is entering her second year at KIS. She has been working in University and Careers Counselling within international schools for over ten years begining with the International School of Helsinki in Finland and most recently with Zurich International School in Switzerland.
